Services Provided by the City Chamberlain's Office

  • All Accounts Receivable.
  • Issues and collects City, School and County Taxes.
  • Issues and collects ambulance, water, garbage, and sewer bills.

Tax Information

  • City Taxes become a lien on April 1st, and are mailed on May 1st. All city taxes are due by May 31st without penalty in each fiscal year.
  • School Taxes become a lien on July 1st, and are mailed on October 1st. All school taxes are due on October 31st without penalty in each fiscal year.
  • County Taxes are mailed out January 1st and due on January 31st without penalty in each fiscal year.

Water Bill Information

The Hornell Water Department serves customers in the City of Hornell, Village of North Hornell, and portions of the Town of Hornellsville. The following rate structure was adopted by the Department of Public Works and is presently enforced.

Residential units are non-metered in the City of Hornell. Each unit is charged $133.60 twice a year. The first water bill comes out on April 1st (due by April 30th) and the second one is mailed for delivery on or about September 2nd (due by October 31st). Metered commercial and industrial accounts in the city of Hornell are charged according to the following quarterly bill.

  • First 10,000 gallons $69.10 (Base Rate)
  • From 10,000 to 50,000 $3.34 per thousand
  • Over 50,000 gallons $1.84 per thousand

 Village of North Hornell customers are charged according to the following quarterly bill.

  • First 22,500 gallons $101.34 (Base Rate)
  • From 10,000 to 50,000 gallons $10.11 per thousand
  • Over 50,000 gallons $5.35 per thousand

Town of Hornellsville customers are charged according to the following quarterly bill.

  • First 10,000 gallons $101.34 (Base Rate)
  • From 10,000 to 50,000 gallons $10.11 per thousand
  • Over 50,000 gallons $5.35 per thousand

Garbage and Waste Disposal Surcharges

Solid Waste Disposal surcharge bills are mailed out on July 1st and are due on July 31st without penalty. Bills are sent out once a year for $80.00 per unit. Solid waste surcharge fees also includes the pickup of recyclables. Recyclables are collected during the third full week of each month (the week that includes the 21st). PLEASE NOTE - Water and Garbage/Waste Disposal is a combined package of

                             services provided by the City.

Ambulance Billing

There is a fee for using the Ambulance and billing is done through the Chamberlain's Office located at City of Hornell. The City bills insurance providers, third party billing, Medicare and Medicaid, other carriers and private pays.

TAX SEARCH

A fee of $10.00 is charged per parcel. 

The tax search  includes present and delinquent city, school and county taxes as well as water and solid waste surcharge fees.

Copies of tax bills and/or tax receipts are an additional $5.00 per parcel.
